Talented youngster Chris Johnson is due to make his debut this week having turned 15, and his addition to the Dons ranks for their remaining fixtures of 2002 is eagerly awaited.

The destiny of the Conference League minor placings may well be decided this coming Sunday (20th October) when Newport entertain Wimbledon in the Londoners final away fixture of the season.

With the Dons currently some five points behind the Mavericks, this weekend's meeting in South Wales is a real "three pointer" with Wimbledon requiring nothing short of victory to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon.

Wimbledon Director David Croucher commented: "The lads are really fired up for Sundays meeting at Newport. With tough fixtures ahead against Carmarthen and Sheffield, it is vitally important that the team do well this weekend and claim the bonus point on offer."
