Kent Sweepers Hammers' Leigh Lanham finished of the 2002 season in style, and continued his rich vein of form, by romping to victory in the Ace of Herts Individual meeting at Rye House on Saturday.

He recovered from a third place in his first outing to reel off four consecutive wins in his remaining rides.

He clinched the title in heat nineteen by heading Isle of Wight's Adam Shields from the gate but had to go into a re-run after the latter had caused the race to be stopped by falling effectively ending his own title hopes.

Lanham made no mistake in that re-run collecting the required victory to see him finish top of the 16 man field.

Hammers' other main representative Kelvin Tatum finished fourth, losing out on third place in a run-off with home man Nigel Sadler.

Further down the field, Scott Courtney mustered two third places in his five rides and it was a painful night for ex-Hammers skipper Troy Pratt who fell in his last heat and suffered a badly dislocated shoulder.
