Herne pleased with first Australian final.

The Hammers young Aussie, Lee Herne, competed in his first National Final last weekend when he was up against 15 other riders in the Australian Final.

Herne managed to score six points from his five races, which put him into joint ninth place overall. He was satisfied with his performance and reportedly found it a great experience. Indeed, to finish with six points in such prestigious company at his first attempt was a fine achievement.

Lee's younger brother, Jaye, was also competing in the support races but unfortunately took a nasty looking tumble in his first ride, which resulted in an ambulance trip to the local hospital.

It is thought that he suffered severe bruising but fortunately nothing serious appears to have been broken.

The final was won by Grand Prix rider and ex Hammer, Leigh Adams, who has now won the Australian Championship on no fewer than seven occasions.
