Workington's Simon Stead won the meeting at Bibra Lake, Western Australia, on Saturday. The event marked Lee Redmond's final competitive speedway fixture before retirement.

With six-man races over three laps, action was fast and furious all night as the riders battled for final places, which went to the six highest points scorers from qualifying.

The six that made it were Stead, James Birkinshaw, Frank Smart, David Cheshire, James Brundle and Chris Collins. However, Collins and Cheshire fell in the first turn scrimmaging and a re-start with all six riders was required.

Stead blasted away to win unchallenged from tapes to flag. Birkinshaw tried his best to keep up, but couldn't live with Stead's pace and then had to concede second place to the charging Smart with Cheshire, Brundle and Collins filling the minor places.
