New team boss for Racers.

Reading will have a new team manager leading them this season, following the news that Ivan Shears will be taking over the reins in both home and away meetings.

Shears is the son of Racers Co-Promoter Chris Shears and will be taking over the position from Nick Dyer.

Dyer stepped into the role at the beginning of the 2002 season, as Assistant Promoter Pat Bliss, but was only able to cover home meetings due to family commitments. Mrs Bliss managed the team away from home.

The departing boss said: "I've really enjoyed my time being involved on race-night in the pits, but I've always said I'd gladly step aside if somebody could do it home and away.

"I have a lot of commitments at home, particularly with another baby due in July, so it's probably better all round for Ivan to do it continuity wise.

"I wish Ivan the best of luck with his new role, I'll be behind him every step of the way."

Promoter Pat Bliss added: "Nick did a great job at Reading last year and we hope will still be on hand to give us the benefit of his experience.

"It was felt the team needed continuity with home and away meetings."

Mrs Bliss will keep her licence to cover for any meetings Shears is unable to attend.
