Crump takes Golden Gala in Lonigo.

Jason Crump followed up his victory in the Grand Prix last weekend by winning the Golden Gala meeting in Lonigo, Italy on Saturday from an international field.

Crump streaked through the qualification heats unbeaten and then proceeded to win his semi-final to guarantee his place in the grand final. Slovenian Matej Zagar was impressive throughout qualification and like Crump, won his semi-final to join the Aussie.

Bo Brhel secured an automatic final spot with his semi-final third place which made his progressive score enough. Home rider Armando Castagna also made the final.

At the conclusion of the two semi-finals, Greg Hancock, Steve Johnston, Andy Smith, Jesper Jensen and Joonas Davidsson were left to sweat out an eliminator for the remaining two places in the final. Hancock and Johnston were the lucky duo.

Crump then continued his hot vein of form to take the final ahead of Zagar with Jonston in third place. Hancock, Brhel and Castagna completed the placings. Castagna apart, the home based riders were not at the races and never really in the hunt although Andrea Maida made the semi-finals.
