The Poole Pirates were made to walk the plank at Sandy Lane last night as the Silver Machine raced to their biggest victory of the season.

The win, which moves them into the play off zone, was always on the cards as the Pirates were depleted due to the rerunning of the Grand Prix in Sweden tonight. However, some of the racing was of the highest quality with Kaj Laukkanen and Andy Smith putting in some hard battling rides to win the points from the back.

Joint top scorers were Todd Wiltshire and Charlie Gjedde with thirteen points a piece but three other riders also piling in with double figure scores it was a bumper pay night for the Silver Machine.

Oxford face the Wolverhampton Wolves at home next Wednesday, September 3rd, 2003 in a match they must win to secure that fourth spot.

Todd Wiltshire 13, Sebastian Ulamek (rider replacement), Charlie Gjedde 13, Kaj Laukkanen 6, Billy Hamill 10, Travis McGowan 10, Andy Smith 10

Craig Boyce 8, Steve Masters 1, Adam Shields 8, Daniel Nermark 5, Tony Rickardsson (rider replacement), Krzysztof Kasprzak 4, Tony Atkin 2
