Henning Solberg to drive a Ford in 2005?

Henning Solberg, the brother of Subaru ace, and 2003 World Rally champion Petter Solberg, looks set to tackle eight round of the FIA World Rally Championship in 2005, in a Ford Focus, whether that be a factory effort or a privately run car, remains unclear.

Norway's VG newspaper reports that Ford boss, Malcolm Wilson has confirmed that they have come to a 'solution' that will 'most likely' see him run in the third car, seemingly implying, like other teams, such as Skoda, who will also enter a third car on some rallies, that Ford plan to do the same.

"We have been working for a while for a solution everyone can be happy with," Wilson reportedly told the 'paper.

"It now seams likely we have come up with a package that secures Henning our third car for eight rallies."

The VG newspaper, adds that while the deal is on the table, Henning has still to come up with some finance, to secure the drive.

Seeking clarification on the report, Crash.net contracted the Ford team though, who have denied the report was true, adding that there no plans currently to enter a third car in 2005.

The spokesperson added that M-Sport, who run the Ford backed squad, will run privateer Ford's for only Matthew Wilson and Anthony Warmbold in 2005, although other deals, with people, such as Henning, could well be possible.
