Katajamaki ends season with Stobart on a high.

Marcus Gronholm's prot?g?, Kosti Katajamaki put in a fantastic drive on the Rally of Tukrey at the weekend, eventually bringing his Stobart VK-backed Ford Focus home in fifth place overall - his best ever result in the WRC.

Katajamaki, who was taking in his fifth and final event with the M-Sport-run outfit this year, was delighted to prove that he can compete and, more importantly, beat the 'big name' regulars - as he showed on the very first stage by setting the third best time overall.

Speaking at the finish though, he wasn't overly happy, as he only missed out on fourth by 1.1 seconds, losing the position in the final stage after he had gearbox problems.

"I have mixed emotions; whilst it is my best ever WRC finish, I was so close to coming fourth," confirmed the Finn, "but I had a technical problem and I am just very happy that I didn't make any mistakes this weekend."

M-Sport boss, Malcolm Wilson meanwhile gave Kosti a big pat on the back and was pleased to see that he helped Ford's 'A' team in their battle for the manufacturers' title by depriving Kronos Citroen of constructors' points: "It was a great result for Ford, who got the 1-2 but to also have both the Stobart Ford's finishing too - it's just been fantastic. Kosti drove really well and his manufacturer points are great for the team but it also helps BP Ford in the title chase by keeping some points from Citroen."
