Ott Tanak has fortified his lead at Rally Argentina for Toyota Gazoo Racing with a 42.2-second advantage of new nearest challenger Thierry Neuville for Hyundai as Citroen’s Craig Breen rolled on SS11.

The Estonian driver produced a measured charge through foggy conditions for a hat-trick of stage wins on Saturday morning for Toyota before seeing his lead trimmed back to just over 40 seconds as Neuville claimed victory on SS12 to cement his move up to second place ahead of Citroen’s Kris Meeke.

Dani Sordo leads the hunt for the podium places behind Meeke with a comfortable time cushion over World Rally Championship leader Sebastien Ogier for M-Sport Ford in fifth place.

Andreas Mikkelsen moved to within 10 seconds of Ogier for Hyundai with Elfyn Evans also closing in on the Norwegian driver in seventh place for M-Sport Ford.

Esapekka Lappi and Teemu Suninen round out the premier class fighters in points positions as Breen tumbled down the order to 14th place for Citroen after rolling on SS11 and losing almost 10 minutes righting his C3 WRC machine.

As a result, Skoda’s Kalle Rovanpera holds the final points place after jumping into the lead of the WRC2 class ahead of teammate Pontus Tidemand.
