Team Alstare Suzuki Corona Extra riders, Stephane Chambon and Katsuaki Fujiwara crowned a superb final qualifying by taking second and third places on the grid for tomorrow's sixth round race at Silverstone.

Chambon had always been in contention for a front row spot and almost had pole position but Fujiwara left it until just two minutes from the end to take his place alongside his team mate. He had struggled throughout practice, but had worked his heart out in the final session and got his reward right at the end. Dutchman Jurgen van den Goorbergh took pole position, with a time of 1:56.096. The Yamaha rider wasn't in the reckoning at all yesterday, but made significant progress today to take his first pole position of the year. STEPHANE CHAMBON 2ND, 1:56.543 Pole would've been nice, but I'm happy enough to be on the front row especially as there are no Hondas there! Practice went well throughout really and I had no big problems. I'm pleased with my qualifying today and although our Alstare Suzuki may be the oldest bike in the class, Kats and I once again showed how good it can be. I'm looking forward to a good start, a good race and a podium of course. I'd like to win tomorrow for sure, but it's going to be a very long, hard race. KATSUAKI FUJIWARA 3rd, 1:56.586 Yesterday I could only dream of the front row, but today I worked so hard, now I want to sleep! But all the work was worth it and I managed to get on the front row though I admit I left it very late. I think there was less then two minutes left when I went out and then set my best lap. Now I can think about the start and challenging for the lead. I hope all my little problems in practice are over and I can just go out and race hard. I'm determined to do my best and get a podium and I hope that Steph is next me. A 1-2 would be perfect, but there are a lot of good riders and fast bikes, so it will not be easy.
