FPR fun at the festival of speed.

The Petronas FP1 superbike with four times World Superbike champion Carl Fogarty in the seat, was a focal attraction within the motorcycling class at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend.

The Festival - the world's biggest and most prestigious celebration of the history of motor sport - was visited by over 150,000 spectators over the three days, despite heavy rain on the Saturday, and making it the largest single live audience the FP1 has been displayed to.

The Festival - the world's biggest and most prestigious celebration of the history of motor sport - was visited by over 150,000 spectators over the three days, despite heavy rain on the Saturday, and making it the largest single live audience the FP1 has been displayed to.

Carl fogarty rode the FP1 inline triple world superbike contender up the famous hill in the saturday morning.

Unfortunately, Chris was unable to join Foggy in riding the FP1 up the Hill as originally planned, as Britain's most popular rider was still recovering from the broken ribs he sustained during the team's last outing in the World Superbike Championship at Silverstone.

"I first came to festival in 2001 in a PR role but wasn't really looking forward to it," admitted Fogarty. "But when I got here I was amazed at the huge scale of the event and the brilliant atmosphere. After that I knew I wanted to come back, but in the past few years the Festival has clashes with race events so it's not been possible.

"So when the opportunity to come this year came up it was great - especially being able to bring our own race bike and ride it up the hill in front of such a large and interested audience.

"It was great to ride the FP1 but my body is definitely not as able as my mind is anymore when it come to riding a bike! It was amazing how fast and responsive the bike felt - I think I was doing about 100 up parts of the hill but it felt so much faster. I also pulled a few wheelies for the crowd which was good fun.

"There was a large TV screen on one of the Hill's corners, so I could see myself on it as I rode up which was strange. I got behind the bubble and as I went past it was like I was going through the screen!

"We had a great weekend and have been looked after so well by Goodwood. I really hope we have the chance to come back again with my team."

"I'm smashed I wasn't able to ride the FP1 up The Hill this weekend," said the injured Walker. "But my ribs have only just started to feel better and I need to be totally fit for out next races at Laguna and Brands Hatch. Although Carl's demo runs on the FP1 weren't timed, I know I wouldn't have been able to help myself but be competitive and want to beat his time up the hill or pull wheelies for longer!

"It's been great just being here though - the atmosphere is like nothing else I've ever been and there has been huge interest in the FP1. I had never appreciated the scale and popularity of the event before."
