Sofuoglu withdraws after family tragedy.

The reigning World Supersport champion had finished Friday qualifying at Monza an impressive eighth fastest for Hannspree Ten Kate Honda, but will play no further part in the weekend.

"It is with great sadness that the Hannspree Ten Kate Honda Team must announce that Kenan Sofuoglu's brother, Sinan, has been involved in a fatal accident while racing in his native Turkey," read a team statement.

"Kenan has withdrawn from the Monza event and has returned to Turkey to be with his family at this difficult time.

"We would respectfully ask that the media not make any requests for further information at this sensitive moment.

"We wish to send our condolences to Kenan and all his family and they can be assured that our thoughts are with them."

Crash.net joins the World Superbike paddock in offering its sympathies to Sofuoglu.
