James Toseland has been taken to hospital with 'light concussion' following an accident at the start of second race at Monza.

Toseland went into the race determined to build on his second place finish in the first encounter, but was caught up in a mid-field clash on the run down to the opening bend that also eliminated Jonathan Rea and Ruben Xaus.

Complaining of neck pain, Toseland was taken to the medical centre, where he was examined for concussion. He has subsequently been taken to hospital where Yamaha team manager Massimo Meregalli confirmed he is undergoing CT scans.

"Following James's crash and concussion he was taken to hospital for scans as he complained of a pain in his neck. The first scan revealed no injuries, we are waiting for a second for confirmation."

Rea didn't emerge unscathed either as he sprained an ankle when he clashed with Xaus. Xaus, however, escaped unharmed.
