Honda has taken the wraps off its contender for the 2012 World Superbike Championship just days before the start of the new season.

Making its bow during official testing at Phillip Island ahead of the opening round at the same circuit, the much anticipated 2012-specification CBR1000RR rolled out of the pit lane in a brand-new corporate inspired colour scheme.

Adopting the iconic hues associated with HRC, the CBR1000RR is predominantly white, with red and blue accents, while riders Jonathan Rea and Hiroshi Aoyama will compete in mostly red leathers.

The move to recognisable HRC colours is a nod to Honda's increased investment in its World Superbike challenge for this season, even if long-term partners Ten Kate Racing will continue to run the outfit from its base in the Netherlands.

The design also reveals there will be no title sponsor for Honda in 2012 following Castrol's decision to revert to a secondary backer after just one season.
