Speculation following a serious accident involving Joan Lascorz at Imola has irked Honda Racing star Jonathan Rea.

Kawasaki rider Lascorz fell heavily during the post-Imola test and rumours have abounded since that the 27-year-old - British rider Tom Sykes' team-mate - will never race again.

Lascorz is still being assessed in hospital in Barcelona, with doctors holding off on providing a final analysis of his injuries until they are absolutely assured of his condition.

"I don't really know the extent of the damage until something official comes out, so I'll just cross my fingers until then," said Rea.

"I'm not very happy with the amount of people in this world who just want to jump on bad news.

"The Gazzetta dello Sport almost wrote him off straight away. It's not nice and I rode past Joan Lascorz when the red flag had gone out and he wasn't in a good way."
