Sylvain Barrier and Michel Fabrizio have been taken to hospital following separate accidents during the first day of World Superbike testing at Phillip Island.

The pair suffered their respective crashes during the afternoon session with both riders transferred to hospital to undergo x-rays for suspected pelvis injuries.

Fabrizio's accident came as he was making his debut on Kawasaki machinery for the IRON BRAIN Grillini team, the Italian - now the most experienced rider on the WSBK grid - eyeing up the inaugural EVO title in 2014.

Double Superstock champion Barrier, meanwhile, was showing promising pace on the BMW Italia EVO machine on his first visit to the Australian circuit prior to his accident, the Frenchman having been tipped by mentor James Toseland as a favourite for the EVO title this year.

In addition, young Hungarian rookie Peter Sebestyen is set to miss the remainder of the test after crashing after just seven laps in the morning session. The Team Toth BMW rider, who makes the leap from the European Junior Cup this season, suffered a shoulder injury.
