Lowes: Portimao is like Cadwell Park on steroids!

Alex Lowes is gearing up for one of his favourite circuits on the World Superbike calendar and hopes to maintain his consistent results at Portimao

Alex Lowes says he cannot wait to get going at a circuit he describes as 'Cadwell Park on steroids' which hosts the Portuguese round of the World Superbike championship.

The Voltcom Crescent Suzuki rider is preparing for Portimao this weekend and says the Algarve International Circuit is one of his favourites on the World Superbike calendar which suits an aggressive riding style.

"I really like the Portimao circuit, it's quite fast and with the up and down layout it's a bit like Cadwell Park on steroids," Lowes said. "It's a very physical track which requires a lot of rider input, and you also have to be very precise as off line can be bumpy in places.

"My best section is the final part, the second to last corner is off camber and it's nice to slide the bike there. My favourite corner is the final one as it's a fast downhill right with two apex's and is very hard to get right but an awesome feeling when you do."

Last season the Lincolnshire rider enjoyed one of his most consistent performances of 2014 on board the Suzuki GSX-R, grabbing sixth and fourth place finishes in Portugal.

Lowes also hopes to continue the positive steps forward with his Suzuki machine from Donington Park two weeks ago and heads into round seven of the 2015 championship in eighth place in the riders' standings.

The Voltcom Crescent Suzuki squad will remain in the Algarve after the race weekend for a mid-season test day on Monday 8th June, much to the delight of the 24-year-old.

"Whether it's your first track day or going for WSBK pole you can really enjoy this place and I can't wait to race my GSX-R there again."
