Eugene Laverty has topped the second free practice session ahead of the Thailand World Superbike round for Milwaukee Aprilia by just 0.034s from Red Bull Honda’s Leon Camier.

As the pace sharpened towards the end of the session, with qualifying set to take place at the same time tomorrow and similar track conditions, Laverty placed his factory Aprilia on top with a 1m 33.851s as Camier narrowly missed out seconds later.

FP1 timesheet-topper Xavi Fores dropped to third, with his first session time remaining his personal best of the day, while reigning World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea enjoyed huge gains in FP2 to jump up to fourth place.

Pata Yamaha’s Michael van der Mark enjoyed similar gains to Rea to also jump into the Superpole 2 slots in fifth place ahead of Kawasaki’s Tom Sykes with MV Agusta’s Jordi Torres in seventh.

Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha) and the Aruba.it Racing Ducati pair of Chaz Davies and Marco Melandri currently hold the final automatic spots going into Superpole 2 with the championship leader Melandri on the bubble in 10th place with a slender 0.014s advantage over 11th place rider Loris Baz for Althea BMW.
