Rea quickest as Sykes falls

Jonathan Rea leads the final practice session at Aragon while Kawasaki teammate Tom Sykes suffered a fall which triggered a brief red flag in the short FP4.

The reigning World Superbike champion laid down an impressive 1m 50.770s to pull out almost half a second on Chaz Davies on the Aruba.it Racing Ducati in the final practice session with Jordi Torres continuing to catch the eye on the MV Agusta to take third on the timesheet.

The quick FP4 session was red flagged midway through after Sykes suffered a highside off during his opening timed lap. The former World Superbike champion was able to walk away from the off and will be keen to see a speedy repair on his ZX-10RR with qualifying just over an hour after the final practice session.

With Sykes unable to set a time it saw the rest of the field close up with Alex Lowes move up to fourth for Pata Yamaha just over two-tenths ahead of teammate Michael van der Mark.

Red Bull Honda’s Leon Camier kept in contention in sixth ahead of Aruba.it Racing Ducati junior rider Michael Ruben Rinaldi as Toprak Razgatlioglu (Puccetti Kawasaki), Xavi Fores (Barni Ducati) and Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing Ducati) completing the top ten contenders.
