Alex Lowes: Best I’ve felt since first ride on the Ninja ZX-10RR

Alex Lowes: Best I’ve felt since first ride on the Ninja ZX-10RR

Alex Lowes and Kawasaki continued preparations for the 2021 World Superbike campaign earlier this week with a two-day test at MotorLand Aragon.

The two-day outing in Teruel was the third pre-season test of 2021 for Lowes following Jerez and Barcelona.

The British rider completed 73 laps at Aragon, and with one more test at the Spanish venue on May 4-5, Lowes will certainly be buoyed having felt ‘much better’ with his shoulder compared to the Official Barcelona test.

"Unfortunately, on day two it was raining so we have English weather in Spain! At one stage it looked like both days would have rain, but luckily yesterday I did 73 laps and my shoulder felt much better than during the most recent Montmelo tests," added Lowes.

"This is really positive. From the bike side of things we worked on some corner exit electronics and chassis settings, trying to improve my feeling in this area.

"It is the same work that we did in Jerez and Montmelo, and we continued that same testing plan in Aragon; it was really positive. I think this is the best I have felt since my first ride on the Ninja ZX-10RR."

Last season’s double header at Aragon saw Lowes claim three sixth place finishes, a fifth, and a ninth after retiring from the opening race.

The final pre-season test for defending champions Kawasaki will see Lowes joined once again by team-mate Jonathan Rea, while Yamaha will also be on track with Andrea Locatelli and Toprak Razgatlioglu ahead of the season opener on May 21-23.
