‘Good base setting’ for Lowes, focused on execution ‘every weekend’

Round one of the 2021 World Superbike season is just one day away from commencing with Alex Lowes feeling in total ‘control’ with Ninja ZX-10RR package.

This will be the former BSB champion’s second year with the KRT squad alongside six-time world champion Jonathan Rea.

Speaking ahead of the season which begins tomorrow morning with FP1 at MotorLand Aragon, Lowes said: "I am ready to start racing! The 2021 season feels like it’s been a long time coming. It’s a longer winter break than normal for WorldSBK but luckily for me it’s really given me time to get to know my Ninja ZX-10RR properly.

With the later start to a season than normal as Lowes highlighted, it’s crucially given the former Yamaha rider time to recover from a training injury suffered earlier on in the year, and subsequently allowed him and the team to schedule tests in April and May that otherwise may not have happened.

Lowes is one of many riders to participate in several Aragon tests of late as he looks to better last year’s results.

Lowes was unable to claim a podium in the six races contested in Teruel - instead finishing with a best on fifth and multiple six place positions.

But following a positive pre-season, the 30 year-old feels ‘the best’ he possibly can going into the season. "I feel like I am prepared the best I can be after all the pre-season tests. I have a good base setting and I’m in control of what’s happening with the bike," added Lowes.

"This is a good position to be in and now it’s about executing my best performances through every weekend.

"A big thank you Kawasaki and all the KRT staff for the extra hard effort during these strange times. Motivation is extremely high and now it’s time to go racing!"
