TAG Racing to make BSB switch

Leading British Supersport outfit TAG Racing has announced it will step up to the MCE British Superbike Championship in 2014 with a pair of Kawasaki ZX-10Rs.

The Swadlincote-based team made its paddock debut in 2009 running factory-assisted Triumph 675 Daytonas in the Supersport class, but having tasted success in the intermediate class over the last five seasons, TAG Racing is now looking to make the step into the premier series for 2014.

Set to enter a pair of Kawasakis, with riders and sponsors to be announced next month, team manager Rob Winfield feels now is the right time to tackle a new challenge.

"We've been considering a switch to superbikes for a while now and feel that the time is right for us to take on this new challenge.

"The championship rules allow privately run teams like ours to compete on a level playing field and we are confident that we have the experience and resources to step up and contribute to what is one of the world's most exciting race series.

"As a team, we have learned a great deal racing in the supersport class and have proved ourselves through a series of race wins, pole positions and fastest laps. We've worked hard over the years to put out a professional team and we are delighted that this has been recognised by Kawasaki Motors UK and MSVR, who have both welcomed our move into the superbike class. Racing in superbike will not only provide us with a fresh sporting challenge but will give considerably more exposure for our team sponsors."

TAG Racing is the fourth team to confirm a Kawasaki entry for 2014, following on from GBmoto (switching from Honda), Quattro Plant and Paul Bird Motorsport.
