2015 BSB calendar announced, Donington to open

Donington Park has been announced as the new curtain raiser for the MCE British Superbike Championship following the confirmation of the 2015 BSB calendar.

Though a mainstay on the BSB schedule, the Leicestershire venue has most recently hosted the final round before the 'three-event' Title Showdown, while Brands Hatch has held position as the season opener every year since 2004.

For 2015, Donington Park will get that honour for the first time since 2001 on the 4/5/6 April Easter Weekend, while Brands Hatch will host the second round of the season two weeks later.

Other changes include Cadwell Park being moved a week earlier to avoid a clash with the MotoGP British Grand Prix on 21/22/23 August, though this means it won't be held in its traditional August Bank Holiday slot.

Oulton Park assumes the place of Donington Park as the pre-Title Showdown event, with three races to determine who will progress to the shootout phase.

Having made its debut in 2012, Assen will continue on the BSB schedule in 2015, with the Dutch venue, Silverstone and Brands Hatch continuing to form the Title Showdown events.
