The final round of the British Superbike series took place this weekend at Donington Park with spectacular racing seeing Steve Hislop take the Championship.

The "Phones 4 U Ducati" squad struggled all weekend with problem after problem and on Saturday after a total of four engine changes Dean Thomas qualified in 11th position.

Race Day dawned and the team who had been working hard to prepare the bike were quietly confident that all the problems had been ironed out. Race One saw Thomas have quite an uneventful race and come home in ninth place and in Race 2 Thomas finished in 11th position.

"The season has now finished and we have finished 11th overall in the Championship, although obviously we would have liked to have finished higher up, considering the bikes potential and the problems we have had throughout the series then I am quite pleased with our result," commented Team Principal Enzo DiClemente.

He added: "Given the pressures Dean has had to contend with this season I think he has performed well. Diane, Dean, the team and me would like to thank all our sponsors (too many to mention personally - you know who you are!!) for their constant support throughout the season it has always been very much appreciated."

"A special thank you goes to John Caudwell of Phones 4 U who at the 11th hour came to the rescue of the team at the beginning of the season and made it all possible, we were so close to not being able to participate in the series it was untrue but John came along and saved the day, John many thanks it was very very much appreciated. Another special thank you goes to Chris and Pam Windley of e-validator who had never met us before but had the faith to invest in us."

"Our plans now are to raise sponsorship for 2003 and we are currently talking to various Companies and hopefully soon will be able to release a statement informing everyone of our decision, obviously this is a difficult time for us as raising sponsorship is no easy fete but we are quietly confident that we will be back racing either in the British Series or even back at World level. As well as thanking our sponsors Diane and myself would like to thank all our team for working so hard this season we know how hard it has been for them and it is very much appreciated that once again they stuck by us, the team to us are not just employees but valued friends - many thanks to everyone."
