Dijon crash pitches bike into crowd.

At the sixth round of the British Superbikes at Thruxton a crash by Dijon Compton has stopped the race four laps into the first race. All was set for a blinding race before Compton fell.

The rider was okay, but unfortunately the bike continued over the barrier and into the crowd. Two spectators where struck by the bike and it is unclear at the moment how badly they are hurt.

Championship leader John Reynolds had started well and jumped into second by the first corner from fourth on the grid. Pole sitter Dean Thomas had held the lead until the incident which stopped the race on lap four.

The Hawk boys were also looking strong with Smart in fourth behind Rutter in third. Glen Richards had a solid sixth ahead of the hard charging Gregorio Lavilla. Second on the grid Emmett found himself in fifth when the red flags came out.

The two part race will begin with a full grid start based on the positions they finished when the race was stopped.
