Peter Ward continues to top the National Superstock Cup Championship table after a hard-fought third place at Snetterton last weekend.

Following a bad start, 'Pesky' Pete made up places in fine fashion, eventually finishing the race as first Yamaha home in third position. He now leads the series by 11 points.

"The weekend started good," admitted Pete. "I was consistent, at least! I was pretty much in the same position all weekend - third! In practice and qualifying I was consistent and just got out there and tried to do plenty of laps. I was happy to be the highest-placed Yamaha out there all weekend and what I was losing down the back straight I could make up in the corners."

He needed to do just that following a typical 'Pesky' Pete start to the race. "I'm my own worse enemy! I had another bad start and was 11th coming onto Revett Straight," he explained afterwards. "Then I made four places up on the first left after the straight and had to back off a little as any further overtaking in those bends would have seen me take a few people down! After that I tried to think of the championship and keep my sensible head on."

Pete is now looking forward to the six-week break before Silverstone. "I'm going to spend the time getting a bit fitter and maybe go to Bruntingthorpe with Youngy and practice my starts! The Yamaha YZF-R1 has pretty good mid-range and out of my last three meetings at Silverstone I've won two of them so I'm confident to do well there."
