Hawk Kawasaki to take on the world?

Hawk Kawasaki team manager Stuart Hicken has admitted that the team could make the move to World Superbikes providing they can pull in the sponsorship.

Speaking to Crash.net at Donington Park during the penultimate round of the BSB season, Hicken confirmed that the team was evaluating the possibility of making the step up to WSBK - although the team would remain involved in the BSB if such a deal came together.

"We haven't decided on a line up [for BSB] yet as we are looking at World level, which Kawasaki asked me to do," he said. "So it's really all down to the backers, the new bike arrives with me in ten days so we will take it from there.

"It will mean leaving two riders here and two World Superbike riders and one World Supersport rider at world level."

Hicken has superb links with Kawasaki which, as he explains, would help the team if it were to make the move to the World Superbike Championship.

"Kawasaki approached me last year," he said, "and being directly linked with the factory is important, as we would have some factory mechanics assisting us with engine building and management. It's something we want to do but we need to get the money on board."

As well as racing the team have been filmed all year by a TV crew for their show Hawk Speed on Men and Motors and that is likely to continue next season.

"We are hoping to continue with the filming next year, we just need to get in some murder plots and what have you!" he said. "They [the TV crew] wanted some things fixed but, no if we make a blooper or kick the fuel can over or I swear, several times...well that is what happens!"
