Outgoing Bennetts British Superbike champion John Reynolds has ended his 2005 race season with a crash in practice at Brands Hatch putting the British motorcycle race star into hospital with broken ribs, a punctured lung and a broken left collar bone.

The Rizla Suzuki star had an off in only his third lap of the morning practice session at the Brands Hatch circuit in Kent when he crashed into the tyre wall between Druids and Graham Hill Bend.

After a thorough examination at the circuit medical centre, he was transferred to hospital in Dartford where his injuries were confirmed as broken ribs on his right side, punctured his right lung and broken his left collarbone. He was descibed as being in a stable condition.

"I don't know what happened to cause my crash today, but I do know I didn't want to finish my season this way," said Reynolds after his off. "I'm in considerable pain from my broken ribs but the medical staff have been fantastic and I am receiving the best care possible, for which I am very grateful."
