Lavilla on pole and under lap record.

Airwaves Ducati rider Gregorio Lavilla took an impressive pole position at Donington Park ahead of round two of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship. His time was 1min 31.542secs, 0.176secs under his own lap record set last season.

Karl Harris was the fastest of the Hondas and has found himself sandwiched between Lavilla and his team-mate Leon Haslam. Despite riding with an injured ankle sustained when he high sided at Paddock Hill bend at Brands Hatch, Haslam is on the pace.

The final space on the front row went to Michael Rutter on the green Stobart Honda. Rutter is ahead of his former team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari who heads the second row. Johnny Rea finished in sixth place after having topped the times sheets throughout the weekend. He will be disappointed with this as he felt he had more to give and more to get from his machine; however the weather conditions have been variable and that won't have helped him in qualifying.

Michael Laverty was just ahead of James Haydon on the Rizla Suzuki who rounded out the second row of the grid relegating his team-mate Shane Byrne to the third row.
