Double points for Brands finale!

Following the complete cancellation of round five of the 2006 Bennetts British Championship at Mondello Park due to the weather, there have been a number of amendments to the British and National Championship calendars.

Firstly the Bennetts British Superbike Championship races will not be replaced, however the available points will be transferred to the final round at Brands Hatch on October 1st. Therefore both Superbike races will count for double-points - setting up a potentially thrilling title showdown.

The British Supersport race will switch to Brands Hatch, marking a double-header of Supersport action, while the British 125cc GP Championship race will take place at Mallory Park on June 4th - and will also run as a double-header.

Grid positions for the double-header events will be the same for both races and determined by the results of the qualifying practice at that particular event.

Finally, the 2006 Metzeler Racetec National Superstock Championship races will be scheduled at Donington Park during the GAS British Grand Prix meeting on June 30/July 1/2. At the moment it looks like there will be two qualifying practices on the Friday and a race each day on Saturday and Sunday.

"We accept that these changes may not suit everybody 100%, but believe that they best serve the championship and ensure our obligations are fully met concerning the composition of the series and the delivery of the best show possible to the public," said BSB series/race director Stuart Higgs. "I would also like to sincerely thank everyone for their patience, support and co-operation during the event at Mondello Park."
