Shane Byrne on the Rizla Suzuki had hoped for a front row start but was relegated to the head of the second row. Karl Harris lines up next to the blue Suzuki with Tommy Hill in seventh and Michael Rutter on the Stobart Honda in eighth.

Dean Thomas achieved fourteenth position on the grid which was impressive as it is his first time back on a bike since his big smash at Snetterton when he sustained four broken ribs and a punctured lung.

The session was red flagged when Gary Mason crashed his Hydrex Honda with seven minutes of the session to go; he was able to walk away from the crash.
