Second straight podium for Sykes.

Tom Sykes admits he had 'mixed feelings' about his day's work in the latest round of the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Donington Park, despite scoring a second consecutive podium.

Faced with plenty of work to do from 13th on the grid, Sykes got a good start in the first race to end the opening lap in sixth place, the Rizla Suzuki rider going on to make up even more ground to pressure Karl Harris for second.

Eventually finding his way past the Yamaha rider, Sykes was also overtaken by Cal Crutchlow but was still able to hold onto third place to go with his podium at Brands Hatch.

"Obviously I'm delighted with my podium finish as that is where my Rizla Suzuki team and I should be finishing," he said. "Starting from the fourth row of the grid isn't ideal as I usually aim to be on the front row, however in the first race I got away well and battled in the lead group."

Sykes was slightly more disappointed with his second race performance, getting caught up behind Michael Rutter for a long period of time, but nonetheless completing a solid weekend with a sixth place finish.

"As for race two, I got a bit beaten up into the first turn and then got caught behind a slower rider who was holding me up," he said. "The high winds weren't helping matters either. The podium was encouraging but I still want to do better for myself and my Rizla Suzuki team."
