Poor weather causes BSB Donington Park schedule reshuffle

The 2018 Bennetts British Superbike championship opener at Donington Park has been hit by a schedule reshuffle due to poor weather conditions this weekend with the opening race pushed forward to Sunday afternoon.

As is traditional over the Easter holiday weekend, the season opener usually sees both races held on the Bank Holiday Monday with qualifying on Easter Sunday.

With cold and wet conditions forecast for Monday BSB race organisers have opted to shift the 2018 opening race to Sunday’s qualifying slot in preparation for a weather-hit programme.

Sunday’s BSB schedule sees the final free practice session cut down to 20-minutes before a 10-minute break to allow teams to prepare for qualifying which will begin at 11.20.

Instead of the usual Q1, Q2 and Q3 qualifying format all riders will have a 30-minute qualifying session with top times determining the grid for race one.

Race one will be held during the Sunday qualifying slot starting at 16:30, meaning there will be an unchanged TV schedule, with race two kept on the revised Easter Monday schedule with an unchanged start time of 16:30.

A number of alterations have also been made the support series schedule on Sunday and Monday as a precaution of the poor weather forecast.

BSB officials have confirmed any raceday Monday tickets will be valid for use on Sunday with the schedule change.

BSB FP3 – 10.50-11.10
