Jake Dixon has set the standard to beat with race lap record pace at Cadwell Park on the RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki as the Japanese manufacturer continues to dominate at the Lincolnshire circuit.

Dixon, who was at the Austria MotoGP last weekend sparking speculation on his future, notched in a 1m 26.071s to go almost seven-tenths of a second faster than the race lap record set by Lee Jackson last year.

The lap put him half a second quicker than nearest rival Danny Buchan on the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki while Bennetts British Superbike championship leader Leon Haslam had to settle for third on the JG Speedfit Kawasaki.

With Kawasaki machinery locking out the front three spots, Be Wiser Ducati’s Glenn Irwin led the charge in fourth place with Buildbase Suzuki’s Bradley Ray in fifth place – over one second off Dixon’s top time.

Michael Laverty also impressed late on to shoot up to sixth place on the Tyco BMW to split the Buildbase Suzukis with Richard Cooper in seventh ahead of rookie Andrew Irwin in eighth on the second Be Wiser Ducati.

Local star Peter Hickman continued to hold a front-running position for Smiths Racing BMW in ninth as Tyco BMW’s Christian Iddon rounded out the top ten.

Tommy Bridewell dropped down to 11th after a mid-session crash at Mansfield on the Moto Rapido Ducati, which he was uninjured from, while Thruxton race two winner Josh Brookes also crashed out early in FP2 to see him drop down to 14th on the timesheet for McAMS Yamaha.
