The top two in the Bennetts British Superbike championship Christian Iddon and Jason O’Halloran head into round four at Thruxton separated by just six points.

Both riders took a victory apiece at Brands Hatch, along with O’Halloran’s team-mate Tarran Mackenzie who is third - 26 points back.

Iddon’s consistency has been the underlying factor for his top of the standings position - only rider to finish inside the top five in every race, while O’Halloran has the most wins (4).

"It’s a hard-fought championship and you never know who you are going to be up against, but at the moment there seems to be a couple of riders who have been standouts who have been there every weekend," added Iddon.

"Myself and Jason [O’Halloran] have probably been the most consistent of those and it has been really, really close between us!

"There has been a swing in the championship and Jason is really strong and you can never count him out as he showed on Sunday morning after having a really difficult Saturday."

Iddon also believes team-mate Josh Brookes, who made a return to form during the final race at Brands, will be someone to watch out for this weekend given his previous success at Thruxton.

"I also think that Josh [Brookes] is going to be right up there, he is spectacular at Thruxton as he is at most tracks and he had a very good end of Brands Hatch and I think we will see a good return to form for him."
