Tommy Bridewell has claimed his first win in the Bennetts British Superbike championship since 2015, while also taking Oxford Racing Ducati’s first-ever win in the series, as Tarran Mackenzie and Peter Hickman booked the final two places in the Showdown.

In a frantic race which saw early leader Josh Brookes crash out on Lap 10, Bridewell grabbed the initiative by overtaking Bradley Ray at the final corner on the same lap.

Producing lap record pace, Bridewell edged clear of Ray to clinch a long-awaited victory – his first since May 2015 which came at the same circuit plus the Moto Rapido Racing-run team’s maiden BSB victory.

With Ray settling for second place for Buildbase Suzuki, Scott Redding completed the podium in third place for Be Wiser Ducati which puts him level on points across the regular season.

Brookes goes into the Showdown three points ahead of team-mate Redding thanks to his Podium Points tally as the BSB title fight hots up over the three-round finale.

Both Mackenzie and Hickman did enough to claim the last two Showdown places, finishing seventh and eighth respectively in the final race at Oulton Park.

BSB Showdown challenger Christian Iddon saw his charge wrecked by a suspected technical issue, slowing him while on track, which meant an unsighted Andrew Irwin collided with the Tyco BMW rider.

While Iddon’s bike was badly damaged, both riders were okay while Irwin was able to continue to the finish in 10th place.

Further ahead Danny Buchan claimed fourth place in preparation for his maiden BSB Showdown bow with the FS-3 Racing Kawasaki rider finishing comfortably ahead of Glenn Irwin in fifth on the Tyco BMW.

Jason O’Halloran claimed sixth for McAMS Yamaha ahead of team-mate Mackenzie and Smiths Racing BMW’s Hickman.

Ryan Vickers recovered from a Race 2 off to take ninth place for RAF Regular & Reserves Kawasaki with Irwin rounding out the top 10 for Honda.
