Rob Collard has confirmed he will compete in the final round of the 2014 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship after sustaining no serious injuries in his spectacular crash at Silverstone.

The eBay Motors BMW driver was accidentally tipped into a series of barrel rolls at speed after being clipped by the spinning Jack Clarke, Collard being hospitalised and his car sustaining substantial damage.

Despite this, Collard says he will return to BTCC action for the 2014 season finale, where his team-mate Colin Turkington is expected to wrap up the title, the experienced racer praising the strength and safety of his car after avoiding major injury.

"I was bracing myself for what was to come. My natural instinct was to just hang on. The marshals got to the car very quickly and got me out, they did a great job, as did the entire medical team. It's a testament to West Surrey Racing and the NGTC rules in the BTCC that these cars are very, very safe.

"It was a huge incident, and I can tell you it hurt. I was struggling for breath because I was winded so that was a worry, but the medical team put my mind at rest straight away."
