JTR's Lewis Plato has won the first Porsche Carrera Cup GB race of the weekend at Brands Hatch, as Dino Zamparelli's title aspirations took a severe blow following a dramatic opening encounter.

Having snatched the lead away from pole-sitter Dan Harper at the start of the race, Zamparelli looked set to extend his eight-point championship advantage ahead of Tio Ellinas after seemingly settling into a comfortable rhythm at the head of the field.

However, the title race was blown wide open on the fourth lap of the race after Zamparelli inexplicably spun out of the lead and fell to the tail of the field as a result.

As it stands, Zamparelli and Ellinas will incredibly head into the deciding race of the season tied on points, with a 17 lap showdown set to decide the destiny of this season's title.

Aside from the title battle, Plato was the first to benefit from Zamparelli's error to take the race victory ahead of Ellinas in second.

Tom Wrigley completed the podium order in third position ahead of George Gamble, Tom Jackson and the returning Motorbase Performance Porsche of Michael Caine.

Rory Collingbourne took an impressive Am class category victory in seventh overall, 0.2s ahead of Jamie Orton, who took the Pro-Am class win in eighth.

Having challenged for the lead earlier in the race, Harper eventually crossed the line in ninth after the JTR driver also spun out from contention on the seventh lap of the race.

Seb Perez completed the top-ten order in tenth.
