Inside information has revealed the five-letter acronym Red Bull’s rebranded sister F1 team goes by “within the company”.

Red Bull announced on Wednesday that Visa Cash App RB will be the new identity of the former Minardi, Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri squad following a wholesale rebrand ahead of the 2024 F1 season.

But the team is being referred to as VCARB internally, according to ESPN.

“How fans and media will refer to the company's second team under its new guise remains to be seen - Red Bull insists the full name is Visa Cash App RB, but within the company it is being referred to as V-CARB,” ESPN reported.

“It was reported for much of last year the team would be called 'Racing Bulls' but this has been dropped - sources have told ESPN that name was met with resistance internally - leading to the RB acronym being used instead.

“Sources have told ESPN that both JP Morgan and Hugo Boss had been in the running to secure a naming deal last year, before Visa and Cash App emerged as leading candidates.”

Meanwhile, Motorsport have reported that the VCARB acronym “might be revealed as the type designation of the RB chassis”, however, a final decision is yet to be taken.

Visa Cash App RB’s livery will be unveiled at an event in Las Vegas next month.

Daniel Ricciardo will lead the newly-named team into their new era, with Yuki Tsunoda entering his fourth F1 season at the Faenza-based outfit.

After replacing the underperforming Nyck de Vries 10 races into the 2023 season, Ricciardo helped the team finish eighth in the constructors’ championship under their former AlphaTauri guise.
