Daniel Ricciardo is to continue competing in the World Series by Renault despite making the step into F1 with HRT.

The Australian was given a surprise debut in the British Grand Prix after Red Bull agreed a deal with the Spanish backmarkers that saw him replace Narain Karthikeyan in order to gain experience of F1 in a racing environment.

However, despite his new role in the F1 paddock, Ricciardo is to continue competing in the World Series by Renault when his HRT commitments allow which means he will be able to compete this weekend at Silverstone and then at Paul Ricard next month.

The deal is similar to that undertaken by Jaime Alguersuari when he made his F1 debut with Toro Rosso in the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix, with the Spaniard also continuing to race in the World Series for the remainder of that season.

Currently, Ricciardo sits sixth in the World Series standings with the ISR team having won on two occasions - at Monza and then in the blue riband event on the streets of Monaco.
