F1 2013 standings after the Hungarian Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel goes into the August summer holiday with his lead in the 2013 world championship intact, despite being unable to overhaul Kimi Raikkonen for second place in Hungary.

A third place podium finish in Hungary was enough go keep Sebastian Vettel's lead in the 2013 F1 world championship intact, despite Lewis Hamilton claiming the race win and Kimi Raikkonen holding on to second place.

Vettel's lead in the points standings actually edged out albeit by a single point after the conclusion of this weekend's action in Hungary, with the reigning world champion now 38 points clear of the rest of the field.

But there's a significant move in second place, with Kimi Raikkonen taking advantage of his runners-up spot at the Hungaroring to take over second position in the points standings by a solitary point over Fernando Alonso, who only managed fifth place at the end of Sunday's race. That sees Alonso drop five points further away from Vettel, and down to third place in the championship albeit still ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Mark Webber.

Nico Rosberg remains in sixth place in the standings despite his late exit from the proceedings in Budapest, with Felipe Massa and Romain Grosjean unchanged in seventh and eighth. However, Jenson Button finally overhauls Paul di Resta in the standings, Button moving up to ninth on the back of his points finish in Hungary while di Resta slumps back a position after his late retirement in the closing laps.

The constructors championship remains the very model of stability going into the August summer break, with Red Bull Racing actually easing out their already daunting lead at the top by two points to 69 points in total on the back of getting both cars home in the points in Budapes. Mercedes in second place had to rely purely on the race-winning haul from Hamilton to maintain their position.

As they feared coming into the Hungarian GP, Ferrari are starting to lose ground on the leaders and are now only 11 points ahead of Lotus in fourth place. Even more close-run is the battle for fifth place in the standings, with a second consecutive pointless outing for Force India this week leaving them only two points ahead of McLaren.

Toro Rosso failed to finish in the points in Hungary, but at least Williams get a point on the board courtesy of Pastor Maldonado coming hope in tenth place at the line.
