The German suffered the injuries as a result of his massive crash in Canada two weeks before the French race, but was unaware of them until a scan made during last week's Silverstone test confirmed that there was more than bruising around his right knee. Frentzen admitted to thinking that his leg was sore at Magny-Cours, but claimed that the adrenaline produced when in the cockpit more than deadened the pain.

Doctors have now advised the German to rest until at least September to let the breaks heal, but Frentzen insists it will be business as usual from Silverstone onwards. "A rest would be nice," he smiled, "but not very good for the team. [The injury] won't hinder my performance, and I'm confident that I can have a good race again [this weekend]."
