No 'Regent Street' in Cardiff.

Council members have ruled out the possibility of Formula One teams repeating the successful Regent Street parade in the heart of the Welsh capital next year.

The London-based event preceded this year's British Grand Prix in July, and attracted in the region of 250,000 eager spectators, many of whom clung precariously to signposts and buildings to get a glimpse of the cars, driven by current heroes and past stars such as Nigel Mansell and Martin Brundle.

Cardiff already plays host to world class motorsport, with the annual Wales Rally GB being based in the city, and the British Speedway Grand Prix taking place in the Millennium Stadium each June.
