Midland F1 could use Ferrari engines in 2006, when they are due to enter F1, and not Cosworth or Toyota, as had previously been rumoured.

According to reports by www.as.com, the man behind the project, Alexander Shneider, has expressed his desire to run with Ferrari motors, however at this stage how much is rumour is unclear.

No official statement has been released by Midland F1 or Ferrari, to deny or confirm the report.

The Midland F1 project was officially unveiled at the Japanese Grand Prix back in October and will utilise a new Dallara chassis, which the Italian manufacturer is currently working flat-out to produce.

Carlin Motorsport boss, Trevor Carlin is going to head-up the outfit.

What affect this might have on Team Sauber-Petronas, who currently use Ferrari engines, remains to be seen, however Ferrari have supplied more than one team in the past, and back in 2001 they supplied Prost GP as well.

The report adds that this is instead of a collaboration with McLaren and Mercedes, this is not correct, as it is the new Team Dubai F1 team which has been linked to McLaren and Mercedes, not Midland F1.
