The rebranded Aston Martin F1 Team has confirmed it will receive title backing from US IT firm Cognizant for its inaugural 2021 F1 season competing under the guise of the iconic British marque.

After several seasons aligned with Red BulL Racing as a sponsor itself, Aston Martin formally enters F1 as a constructor in its own right this season rebranded from the Racing Point outfit, which scored its first win in 2020 en route to fourth in the constructors’ standings.

With work well underway to prepare the firm’s new car ahead of pre-season testing next month, Aston Martin has confirmed Cognizant will come on board in a title backing role in a ‘multi-year association’ deal; the team will thus be known as Aston Martin Cognizant Formula One Team.

A multinational IT brand, Cognizant will integrate with the team’s technology and communication, providing the behind-the-scenes service provider and overhaul its digital transformation.

“The return of Aston Martin to Formula One after more than 60 years away is a landmark moment in the history of the sport,” said Aston Martin Chairman Lawrence Stroll.

“Everyone knows what Aston Martin stands for, but the Formula One team will allow us to take the essence of the brand to new places, building on the strong foundations laid by the previous iterations of the team.

“I’m hugely proud that we can start this new chapter with the support of Cognizant. In today’s world, as the digital revolution continues, I can’t think of a more suitable or valuable partner to work with us as we strive to make Aston Martin one of the greatest teams in the sport.”

Aston Martin will be led by new signing, four-time F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel, and Lawrence Stroll’s son Lance Stroll for the 2021 F1 season.
