Promatecme UK Limited will today [Saturday 13 April] launch a new trading title and corporate image, as well as confirming major development plans for the company.

Team owner Chris Weller has changed the company's trading title to Promatecme International Motorsport and will announce two further major initiatives.

Alongside its established British F3 Championship team, the company will expand into other international categories and develop an engineering division to complement the racing activities. This expansion is expected to take place over the coming 18-24 months.

Promatecme F3, as the F3 team will now be known, will continue to compete at the highest level in the British F3 Championship and selected International F3 races such as the annual Zandvoort, Macau and Korea events.

The team celebrated one of its best ever results with a victory and three further top six finishes during the opening rounds of the 2002 Avon Tyres British F3 Championship at Brands Hatch recently, after Bruce Jouanny took a dominant victory in the second race and Promatecme scored the best team result of the weekend.

Promatecme was originally formed in 1980 by Frenchman Serge Saulnier to focus exclusively on F3, and Englishman Weller joined the company as technical director in 1996. Having previously worked on the development of drivers such as Ralf Schumacher, Mika Salo and the late Roland Ratzenberger, Weller subsequently took over ownership of the company in 2000.

A highly respected and successful F3 team, Promatecme has assisted the careers of rising stars including current F1 drivers Jenson Button and Enrique Bernoldi.
