Formula E confirms Valencia testing entry list

Formula E has released its provisional entry list for the three-day pre-season test in Valencia this week, with a number of new names set for their first official running.

Teams will test in Valencia on Tuesday October 16, Wednesday October 17 and Friday October 19 this week, continuing their preparation for the start of the new season in Saudi Arabia on December 15.

This will mark the first official collective running for the new ‘Gen2’ cars that will race in Formula E from the start of Season 5, although teams have completed extensive private running.

Following confirmation of his race drive for the 2018/19 season, Stoffel Vandoorne will feature on Tuesday and Wednesday for HWA Racelab before then travelling to Austin, Texas for his Formula 1 commitments with McLaren. His seat will be taken over by Daniel Juncadella for the final day.

Dragon Racing will test Formula 2 racers Antonio Fuoco and Maximilian Günther in Valencia, sharing running in the #6 car. Fuoco will get half a day of running on both Tuesday and Friday, with Günther completing the remainder of the test.

Mahindra has left its drivers as ‘TBA’ for both cars ahead of an anticipated driver announcement on Tuesday morning. However, one of its cars is #94, which is the number used by Pascal Wehrlein in F1. Wehrlein has already tested privately for Mahindra, but this would mark his first official Formula E running.

All other teams will test their confirmed race drivers, with the running in Valencia marking the first official appearance for both Vandoorne and Felipe Massa in Formula E ahead of their debuts in the series in December.

Alexander Albon and Gary Paffett will also make their debuts in Saudi Arabia, but both featured in the Formula E rookie test in Marrakesh earlier this year.
