SH Racing have confirmed that they will be fielding an entry for the first running of the Baltimore Grand Prix downtown street course race on September 4.

SH Racing last ran in May's Indianapolis 500 in association with KV Racing Technology, and finished an impressive eighth place with South African driver Tomas Scheckter at the wheel.

"Our original plan after forming SH Racing was to concentrate on and run the Indianapolis 500," said team principal James Sullivan. After the success of that outing, "We decided collectively we'd like to enter at least one more event this season, and Scheckter was the logical choice [as driver.]"

Scheckter is back in action this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, filling in for the injured Justin Wilson in the #22 Dreyer and Reinbold car. Dreyer and Reinbold are yet to confirm their driver plans for the rest of remainder of the 2011 season, but the SH Racing announcement means that they will not be able to run Scheckter in at least one of those outings and it's thought that Simon Pagenaud might once again get the nod for one or more of the street courses.

The team will use their second outing of the year to evaluate and plan for their involvement in the 2012 IndyCar season.

Dallas-based SH Racing have yet to announce a technical partnership for the race, but it's not expected that they will re-pair with KVRT this time around. However the team did confirm that sponsorship would once come again from energy drink brand Redline Xtreme.

"[We] are looking at participating in the Inaugural Baltimore Grand Prix with great excitement and enthusiasm," said Jack Owoc, the CEO of Redline parent company VPX Sports.
