You've read our report about the likelihood of Joan Mir moving to MotoGP next season, with interest from Honda, Ducati and - the hot favourite at Le Mans - Suzuki.

Well, according to Spanish publication AS.com, the young Spaniard has now made his decision and will indeed join countryman Alex Rins on a GSX-RR in 2019.

Mir, the reigning Moto3 world champion, took his first Moto2 podium in only his fifth intermediate class race, last weekend in France.

If Mir signs for Suzuki, it would mean Andrea Iannone is out of a ride and would also close what looked like being a strong option for Jorge Lorenzo if he leaves Ducati.

Ducati will discuss Lorenzo's future after next weekend's Mugello round.
